With the help of Aboriginal Elders, students were able to use experiential learning with scientific resources to explore the natural world outside of the classroom. Topics covered were: the human impact on the environment, how plants and animals adapt to particular habitats, and how to unite the First Nations beliefs and connections to the natural environment. The school collaborated with the local Outdoor education centre, invited guest speakers from the community including Naturalists from the Provincial Park, First Nations elders and former educators to share with the children their expertise. The students have now become more informed stewards and protectors the environment.
