Dundas Central Public School designed and transformed their existing school grounds to address issues of poor drainage, provide students with educational opportunities in environmental sustainability and to provide a multi-age community resource for all to use. The area was transformed with native and nitrogen fixing plants, shrubs, trees and grasses, as well as log seating and a natural amphitheatre for outdoor classroom use. A raised garden bed was also added to help connect students with nature, and to teach them about local sustainable sustainable concepts like growing their own food.
