Greening communities across Canada

As Tree Canada’s flagship program, TD Green Streets strives to green cities and towns across the country by supporting innovative practices in municipal forestry.

Through this unique program, communities across Canada are eligible to receive matching grants of up to $25,000 to support local urban forestry projects.

Since 1994, the program has awarded funding to more than 500 communities, improving municipal green spaces and diversifying urban canopies.

TD Green Streets is open to Canadian municipalities, Aboriginal communities and business improvement associations (BIAs) in Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto.

TD Green Streets 2016

TD Green Streets 2016 has launched! Tree Canada and TD Friends of the Environment Foundation invite municipalities and Aboriginal communities nationwide, as well as Business Improvement Associations in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, to get innovative about how they grow and care for their urban forests. Twelve communities will be selected to receive $25,000 grants for qualifying projects.

What’s New in 2016

In order to provide more support to communities, and to enable the development of more robust projects, a few key changes have been made to the program:

  • Applicants no longer need to provide matching funds.
  • The amount of the grant has increased from a maximum of $15,000 to $25,000.
  • The number of grants has decreased from a minimum of 20 to 12.
  • Applicants must now / are strongly encouraged to contact Tree Canada in advance of submitting an application to discuss the nature and scope of their project.

The deadline to apply for a 2016 TD Green Streets grant is November 30, 2015. For more information and to apply, please visit tdgreenstreets.ca
